9 pm BST - northern sky full of sky trails - busy time at Manchester airport! 28 day crescent will rise around 4.30 UT tomorrow morning.  New moon on 25th

23 days - and shrinking - just after 2am BST Alt 17 Az 82 - here just clearing the trees in the east

17th/18th July 2006  -  22 day moon - still binocs through window!

Lovely phase with Apennines cutting across the terminator and the huge craters from Ptolemaeus southwards on the edge. Alt 19,  Az 94 At this hour 02:18 BST, the rising Pleiades were in the same frame.  Stars  appeared brighter - several constellations in the east glowing despite the higher moon.

Caught earlier as cloud bank rolls in high in the east. 2.30 am BST   Alt 22, Az 110 Poor view of last quarter, clouds thickening at this moment

15/16th July 2006 - 20 day

Moon around 4am BST - no clouds, plenty of sky-trails in SE At 20 days, now alt about 33 Pleiades (about alt 25) high and faint in coming dawn in NE, thought Venus (alt about 8) might have appeared through the trees!

14/15th July 2006 - 19 day

13th/14th July 2006 - 18 day

18 day moon - higher but later - in SE - in Aquarius around 2.45 BST

Altitude: 20° 47' 40"  Azimuth: 160° 13' 58"   see SkyMap Pro or see Moon Data on my other site

Rising in NE, the Pleiades at 3 am BST with Venus to follow in about an hour.

Pleiades: Altitude :+13° 20' 37"   Azimuth:66° 47' 7"


11th July 2006 - full moon, low

11th - clearer sky tonight as sun sets.  Full moon later if you can see it!! ... (or even if you can't)        ;-)

Transit: 2h 12m 20s in Capricorn

The Buck Moon appeared out of the trees at 11pm BST in the SE amongst the security lights

Phase: 0.988

Even higher - but still only just clearing trees.   The brighter stars of Cassiopeia and Perseus were showing to the NE

Altitude: 9° 19' 48"   Azimuth: 159° 37' 26"

Saw the Pleiades rising here the other night 10th July - clouds in the east. and clouds in the west ...

7th July 2006 - 11 day

Light skies in the south east at 21.30 BST where Jupiter will be riding ahead of  the 11 day moon (which will be lurking in the trees for the dark hours!!) Pink clouds in the sun as it goes down in the west closely followed by Mercury, Mars and Saturn.  Nights are drawing in now,  Brian, but moon is staying low ;-)

 


Day 10 - 6th July 2006

Just caught sight of the pale 10 day moon sneaking around in the low reaches of the sky around 7.30 pm BST

Shortly afterwards, back come the clouds. Moon's path too low to follow ...

Poor offerings still   - 7 day moon, chimney and umbrella ;-)

Day 6 - 2nd July 2006

6 days - moon from backyard - not happily placed for Tal - and still too light

This was with the Bresser (hence mirror image) from inside - very hot!!!
