19th Dec 2006 - end of session - and foggy!!!

End of lunation and no sight of the sky!  Better luck for next session.  The photo?  Ah, it's a rotifer - on the end of a cabomba leaf in my fish tank - if you can't go macro go micro ;-)  Wonder if there are any on Mars or Jupiter's moons ...

14th Dec - 23 day moon

12th/13th Dec - 22 day moon

The brighter stars from Bootes and the Plough braved it through in the east around 2.30ut with Arcturus twinkling orange Thin misty cloud over the south east cut out Saturn but the moon shone through after the rain earlier

11th/12th Dec - 21 day moon

After midnight, with the Bresser (image flipped!) Saturn clear for a while to SE Pink dawn again - eery cast to morning sky, more rain and winds forecast ...

 


10th Dec - 19/20 day moon

Pink sky in the morning, skywatchers warning? Eastern sky at 8 am After the cloud of the night, a brilliant moon at 8 am in the west - plus plane heading for Manchester Airport!

US space agency Nasa says it is planning to start work on a base on the Moon after astronauts begin flying back there in 2020. The maps and graphics below show how and where man could live on the Moon.

3 hand-held camera videos from the nearly full moon Down from west to south (processed videos with Virtual Dub then Registax - details on Backyard Moon - part 1) Viewing showed great  detail in both Grimaldi and Bailly = videos not as clear ;-)

Low yet - but just managed to get the Tal on the 5 day moon at 16:45 UT Libration hiding the far SE craters - may show more tomorrow.  Cloud soon came over to fuzzy the view

But Saturn is rising earlier and earlier now   ;-)
