January 14th evening

Had the early evening with the stars. Too pink for galaxies but clusters fine. Had to give up before Saturn rose above the murk | ![]() |

| 13th Jan - still sick, still clouds, but Saturn popped up in some breaks around 10pm (Bresser 20 mm e/p) | Just before dawn 7am 24 day moon out of sight further west but
Jupiter and 2 moons were seen low in the south!! (Bresser) Lyra brilliant in the East |
| Both pics from hand held camera videos ... | ...edited with Virtual Dub and stacked with Registax and enlarged |

Gales ... sky cleared later evening, head didn't, Saturn through Bresser 21:30, Arcturus around 02:30, 22 day moon still grovelling about in the trees

| First law of skywatching: Sun goes down, clouds come up! |

|
| Lot of cloud by the time the moon cleared the trees but 'rabbit' Janssen and valley Rheita stood out | My favourite - Mare Nectar - this time with C8 | Cloud kept drifting over, covered the stars and Saturn then dimmed the 18 day terminator and Mare Serenity |
January 5th, 2007 - just about day 17

| Set Tal up early as sky was clear!! Clouds spotted it and hung around for a long time. | Had almost given up when there was a gap around 7:30 pm (Bresser image) |

| Viewing intermittent but the craters on the eastern rim were clear | Photos (now via Tal) were poor but allowed checking craters against Virtual Moon Atlas later |

| Could make out faint rays from Langrenus - not too clear on pic | The bright spots near Stevinus shone and I could see squashed looking crater (Phillips?) near rim of Humboldt | Brief look at craters on the southern rim then the clouds closed in around 19:50 |
January 3rd, 2007 - day 15 - Wolf Moon
| Bad evening (early) for observing but good time for seas on the edges - Mare Smythii and Mare Australe on the east and south east edges were dark against the bright moon. Crater Humboldt with its central line of mountains was visible. | ![]() |
Clouds then rain soon returned, but the full moon had shown the dark seas and bright highlands for a short time. Viewing through the Tal was good between clouds for about 20 mins but the photos are naff!! |

| Grimaldi
Sneaked out around 18:00 whilst there was a bit of a break in the clouds |
Inghirami
Had a brief fiddle with the C8 and it eventually stopped looking in a plant pot and found the near full moon!!! Must read that instruction book ... |
Bailly - yet again! Cloud was back by now, covering the only star showing, Capella! Took some misty photos, fiddled some more with the C8 but it wanted to look for Deneb. Moon and everything else skywards then vanished behind thick cloud. Ah well ... |
