| Venus - Stacked video via Lumix and Tripod | Venus and her chimneys - now with Aldebaran but the Pleiades were fast vanishing (Lumix and tripod - Night Scenery mode) | Got the Tal out and had a look at Saturn - this is a still photo via Caplio (25mm x3 Barlow, x3 camera zoom) |

| No moon visible at a decent height or time - so still
looking at Venus. Attempted a video through the Bresser from indoors (the only scope I can see Venus with!) in early evening. Details of 'Astrophotography' methods on Tal page via Equipment on side index |
All I can say is that it seems to have caught the
phase - all else will be the processing. With Lumix, hand held. For a beautiful, properly processed photo of Venus see Daniele Gasparri's astronomy site |
From the backyard with Lumix on tripod - again just
catching the Pleiades - good job our chimneys are photogenic ;-) Took some sky pics but a haze crept in :-( |

| 'Scopes feeling neglected - cloud again as the sun drops | Venus outshone the swift, drifting cloud for a time and the Lumix camera found the faint Pleiades through it - couldn't see them with binoculars!! No room to get a 'scope on them without the street lights joining in! | But thicker cloud rushed in and drowned them out - Venus
vanished after this shot! Lumix on tripod, Night Scenery mode ;-) |

| Clear skies for Venus and Pleiades - M 45 difficult to see in the light - 20:40 BST | But by the time the skies are dark enough for the star cluster, the roof and chimney beckon!! 21:05 BST |

![]() |
| 18 day moon not even clearing trees near meridian. Jupiter 'rising' is not much better placed to see. 02:30 BST |
April 6th 2007
| While the 18 day moon will be late and low, Saturn still braves the clouds - in the south between Leo and Cancer while stars in the Sea Serpent struggle to be seen |
April 5th 2007 - more urban skies ...

| Take your pick - Venus with chimneys ... | or Venus with street lamps .... ;-) |
April 4th 2007 - Urban skies ...

| Rough stitching of terminator pics (Caplio via C8) Photostitch software used (comes with Canon) (see page on Original Backyard Moon) |
Not forgetting the libration zone on the eastern
edge Very rough, remember this is a you-can-do-better-go-and-have-a-go site, no expert photography here folks ;-) |

![]() |
| Sun goes down at 18:30 UT - no sign yet of 6-day moon high in the south near Manchester UK!!! |
23rd March 2007 - day 5
![]() |
| By the time the cloud lifted, 8pm, the moon was getting closer to the roof and even closer to the chimney. I needed to try out Lumix with C8 on moon. |
![]() |
| Not promising ... poor conditions and rushed as moon was vanishing, but very difficult ... watch this space ;-) |
![]() |
![]() |
![]() |
| Venus struggled with the cloud, as did the 5 day moon | Dubious 2 pics with Bresser, merged with Photostitch - (from glimpses through the cloud from inside) | This photo just used the Lumix on x12 zoom, hand held with image stabiliser on! (from backyard, before moon vanished over roof) |
21st March 2007 - day 3, just!
![]() |
| Camera makes the grey clouds look better than they do from here! 3 day 3 hour moon just picked up from encroaching cloud - no sign of Venus! 18:42 UT |
20th March 2007 - still 1 day old - just!
Lunar Photo of the Day!! - shown on March 31st on Chuck Wood's LPOD
![]() |
| Caught with Lumix ( x12 on tripod) - sky pale, sun setting, moon just visible in clear sky, jet screaming over from Manchester (LPOD) ;-) |

Venus, 1-day moon and setting sun - 18:45 UT (Lumix) |
When the sun's gone down tonight, look for the crescent moon just below Venus (see above!) |
19th March 2007
8 pm - busy skies in the south |
About 40 mins later, after strong winds, clouds sweeping in from the north and a shower of rain, Venus shines above the dark clouds |
| Very young crescent moon will be in there somewhere, following the sun down in the west around 18:00 UT |
