Occultation of Venus by 3-day moon - Dec 1st 2008

| Couldn't get the Bresser on the Moon but fortunately Chris Bailey could - here's her shot of Venus having emerged from behind the moon. (pic as through Bresser, not mirrored) Thanks again, Chris :-) |
Terminator views through the Bresser - 10th Nov 2008
|
|
| Above photos through the Ricoh Caplio - not too clear but to show some closer views available through the Bresser. Below is a still photo of Bailly through the Lumix camera - problems here with vignetting - difficult to get clear photos but again showing the possibilities for better, more persistent photographers 8-) |

More from the Bresser - some planets too

| August 2009 - Chris Bailey took this photo of MARS through the Bresser in the early hours of the morning. |

| Not used to a refractor but the
Bresser Skylux was easy to put together and use. Test photo of full moon. |
There is no viewing of the west/south
west from the backyard but excellent views from the 3rd-storey window. The Tal is too heavy and cumbersome to drag up there so when Lidl offered a light refractor at a silly price in Nov 2005 I got one. I was rewarded with my first proper views of Venus through a 'scope! - and later Mercury!!! |
Recent (April 2007) attempt at video of Venus (half phase) via Bresser (20mm), Lumix camera, sorted stacked and twiddled! A bit more on my attempts with videos on Tal page, via Equipment |
Here's a photo of Saturn taken with a Skylux by Chris Bailey in November 2006 |

| I'm not an expert photographer and just use the photos as a log of my viewings | The sights through the 'scope are always much better than my photos | But they serve as reminders. Most of my Bresser viewings/photos are done from inside, through glass, over roofs etc - not the best conditions but better than none! |
April 30th 2007 - Sunspot via Bresser

| 1. Check out sunspot on Spaceweather.com and take all SUN precautions see SPA | 2. Prop paper on friendly bear, Cap the Bresser and point FINDER at paper till shadow is smallest. (DON'T look at sun thru 'scope or finder!!) | 3. Spot where the sun image appears and move it over the paper | 4. Make sketch or take photo before sun goes down in trees. Remember to point Bresser away from sun when finished |
| I've found the Bresser Skylux excellent value for money and ideal for my
purpose. 70 mm/ 700 mm 20mm, 12mm, 4mm e/p; Star diagonal Recently added a cheap x2 Barlow to give a little extra viewing - not tested it properly yet. Barlow from Tal usually 2 flights down and rather heavy for Bresser! Easily carried around, though one of the attachments on the tripod has cracked!! Tripod adjusts easily. Scope light, easily joggled if not careful. Occasional red/blue round edges. Views not too dissimilar to Tal (110mm reflector) but am more at home with the Tal which is much more solid. |
Bresser Binoculars

| In the early hours before dawn, before getting the Skylux, I had no 'scope upstairs to see to skies in the east. I used binoculars on a tripod to get photos of the moon in its later phases | And would also set up binocs/tripod when time was short or the sky looked dubious. |

| For deep sky work I like to use binoculars to search down star clusters, even the odd galaxy etc. | I used the binocs to make a 'map' to follow with the Tal | Saturn appears oblong to my eyes (not very good) with binocs but have seen 2 or more of Jupiter's moons on a very good night. |
Late moon phases

| As with the Skylux, my viewing of the later phases are from inside, through glass etc. | The actual views can be quite crisp | though my photos leave a lot to be desired!!! |
Sunspots, Transits etc.

| Similar binocs to Bresser 10x50s set up on tripod with shield of paper round them, capturing the Transit of Venus. Have also used them for finding sunspots (DON'T look at sun through them, project image) - see SPA | Set-up for sunspot via Bresser finderscope (see above) - similar method can be used with binoculars |

| Pond Life! | I know - I didn't see these on the moon!! But with all the clouds lately I needed an alternative - and you never know what will be found on moons of Jupiter or Saturn | Vorticella |
